Brittania has been an athlete
her whole life. She grew up in Santa Clarita, CA. Starting
at the age of 5 she began playing softball. Through the
years she was enrolled in piano lessons, tap, jazz and
ballet classes, soccer, basketball, and gymnastics. If it
were up to her she would have continued doing it all but
unfortunately there is only so much time in a day. She
decided to focus more on sports (Of course with a little
persuasion from good old’ dad.). She played for many
competitive summer softball teams and went to her first
national tournament at the age of 10 in Chattanooga,
Tennessee. She visited the National tournaments 3 more
times and her team the Valley Breeze placed 2nd
her last eligible year to play in the 18 & under
tournaments.
In high school she lettered 4
years in softball, 3 years in basketball, and 2 years in
soccer. She was unable to play her last years in basketball
and soccer because she injured her shoulder which caused her
to eventually have 2 shoulder surgeries. In high school
softball she hit a school record .700 in 1997. She owns
career records in homeruns (18), triples (17) and doubles
(41). She also received the highest award, All-Colorado
Pitcher her senior year.
Brittania then received a full
ride softball scholarship at Colorado State University. Her
first shoulder surgery came at the summer before her
freshman year so she spent the first half of the season
rehabbing it. Although she still played in 29 out of 36
games at third base and outfield. Her sophomore year she
started 43 of 44 games and was named to the inaugural
Mountain West Conference team and hit .366 in conference.
She had a hit in 15 of 21 conference games; this included an
11-game hitting steak. She came back her junior year with
another shoulder surgery and struggled. She played first
base for the majority of the season due to her inability to
throw without her shoulder partially coming out of socket.
At the end of the year she decided to walk away from
softball and focus on her academics. She moved back to her
home town and finished school at California State University
of Northridge. She received her BS in Kinesiology (The
study of Kinesiology provides a detailed understanding of
the movement of the human body in relation to sports, dance,
and exercise.)
Soon after she moved back to
California she quickly found a gym so she could continue to
stay in shape. She found Powerhouse Gym (Chatsworth, Ca)
where she fell in love with boxing. It took awhile because
her shoulder caused her many problems. As she continued she
noticed her shoulder became even stronger and she was also
getting in the best shape of her life. She trained hard with
her trainer, Joseph Ojomoh and knew this was her new found
sport. When Joseph would go out of town she began subbing
his classes and realized how much she enjoyed teaching and
training others. She realized her calling was to provide
others with the knowledge and passion of becoming healthy,
in shape, more athletic and coordinated.
She specializes in circuit,
strength, cardiovascular, sport, and speed training.
Also during the summer she puts together a kids fitness
group class, and continues with some of the children
throughout the school year. She teaches children, balance,
speed, plyometrics, agility and teamwork. She helps the
children understand the importance of each drill and why it
will benefit them not only in their sports but also in their
day to day life. This helps build self esteem,
confidence and the desire to excel.
You can now find her at Shape IT in
Tarzana, CA, where she trains her clients. She is also at
Equinox and Gold's Gym where she teaches boxing and spinning classes. She
does
individualized training as well as small group personal training.
She was asked to be apart of
Laila Ali's and Sugar Ray Leonard's boxing video. It was a
great experience for her two meet such influental and
dominate athletes. She has had a chance to get to know Laila
personally and is so inspired and awed by what an amazing
person and role model Laila has been for her.
Laila is found in Brittania's spinning class from time to
time when she is not busy shooting for Gladiators and other
projects.
